In brief:I was an IBM employee for over ten years, first in technical support, then quality engineering, and finally in product design. I majored in Writing, and have written a variety of documents for both internal and external audiences. I'm also highly adept at learning software packages and have strong troubleshooting skills when things go wrong. In addition to the skills directly required by my positions, I am exceptionally talented at rapidly finding, recalling, compiling and synthesizing information. When I want to locate something online, I generally can, and I enjoy learning and sharing knowledge. I am extremely comfortable with databases: design, administration, training and use. I earned a Master's degree in Library and Information Science in May 2003. In April 2003, I was hired by a company that makes library and database software. My official position has been end-user technical support, but I have also performed quality assurance testing, conducted usability evaluations and document reviews, and taken on numerous other tasks within the company. I was laid off from this position in May 2004. I'd like to find a job that combines my library science skills with my computer industry background, such as systems librarianship, developing programs to search or organize information, or directly finding information for others.
