As far as evolutionary or biological advantages of homosexuality are concerned, Ian once observed something interesting about the simulation game Tribes:

[T]he survivability of the tribe as a whole went up if you had a small number of adults who were involved in procuring food and caring for children, but not producing children.
Dunno if this has any relevance -- Tribes is just a game, and not meant to be gospel. But it's interesting, anyway.
