A Latke Luck
Posted by Lis Riba at 9:18 PM

So, last week I blogged about the Harvard Square Business Association's "Everyone Loves Latkes Party" being held on a Saturday.

Turns out their timing was even more insensitive.

After Saturday morning services and kiddush, I dropped Ian off at home (he's been sick) and headed straight to Harvard Square to see what things were all about.

I found a metered parking spot without problem and hurried to the blue tent, where I found...

...several people cleaning up and closing up.

It's really unkind to host this kind of event at a time when the observant can't attend.

Franken File
Posted by Lis Riba at 9:22 PM

Al Franken is best known as a comedian, and even now, the recount battle is providing its share of humor.

Witness Comedy Ballots:

I can't help wondering whether the Minnesotan who voted for Lizard People is aware of how much attention that ballot is getting.

For that matter, has anybody publically owned up to any of the challenged ballots? Must be frustrating to have strangers arguing over your "intent" without any ability to speak for yourself. [It's a secret ballot; so no way of conclusively associating who cast it.]

What a Great Quote

“I have every faith in the truthfulness of what you're about to tell me that I'm not going to listen to.”
